YEF makes me appreciate my job even more with every passing day.
" We helped a boy from Delhi with some ration when the migrant crisis was going on this Lock down, and the next day his mother called, telling how grateful they were. It was an emotional moment and it made me appreciate my job even more."
These are the words of Mr. Harshit parashar, an executive member working with Youth Empowerment Foundation. He is a resident of Panipat, Haryana with whom I had an opportunity to interview with.
He is very woke and feels strongly for the betterment of the have nots.

So Mr. Harshit can you share with us your journey about how you came across YEF?
Initially I was working here as an intern like many others where you just want to pass 3 months anyhow for a certificate. Then I realized that this platform really teaches you a lot and at the same time I can help people too. It has a good and helpful team and I am grateful to be a part of it.
What services do you provide here ?
I work as an operational executive team member of YEF where we manage how things will reach and work at the ground level.
So how do you reach the people?
That happens when we call the beneficiaries, verify them and ask them to buy ration and distribute and we will pay them online. It also happens partly with the contacts from our volunteers. Also, During this migrant crisis we started a Rapid Response Helpline for instant help.
Please share more about the Helpline.
Sure! It is a Helpline number which our volunteers provide to the people where they can call for help anytime. It is also mentioned in our social media handles and website.
In the migrant crisis, we provided this number to numerous people through our volunteers.
That's Impressive Indeed ! But what about the fraud cases? How do you verify the authenticity?
(laughs) Fraud cases are very rare. In my one and half year's tenure there has been only one or two fraudulent cases. Instead, some beneficiaries call two to three times again to provide their services.
I am curious about how the things actually work at the ground level?
So the cases come via volunteers and through our helpline. We call the beneficiaries, verify them and ask them to provide rations. When they share a picture of them with the ration we pay them online.
Then our volunteers are there who distribute them to the people. That's how it works.
Interesting. What other kinds of help are provided?
Uh, we help mainly with rations and other things like educational help are provided by our volunteers.
What about the funding and sponsorship?
Yes, Funding is a difficult task and fundraisers are doing excellent work(laughs).. otherwise all the efforts would be in vain.
So Mr. Harshit please share with us one of your most pleasant experiences after joining YEF?
Personally I feel that the Thank you messages we receive after the help happens to be the best and mostly humbling (laughs)..
