Curtain Hug

In the year 2018, I, along with my friends came up with the plan of putting a smile on the face of beggars in the railway stations. We decided to feed the beggars of around 2 busiest railway stations. There were around 140 of them. We planned to buy and pack food for them and hand each packet to one person. We also planned on giving away new clothes to them. A few days before our grand festival, Durga Puja, we set out to deliver food and clothes to the poor people. We were a group of 10 people and each one of us gave away packets of food. One of the beggars even said that the packet contained so much food that they could feed themselves with it for a minimum of 3 days. The children were overwhelmed to find new clothes and started wearing them straight away. Most of the people had tears in their eyes as they had assured food for the next two days. It was such a great feeling to find such deprived people happy with a small contribution from our end. The joy we felt giving back to the deprived communities made us realize that the ultimate happiness lies in others’ happiness. Henceforth, we made a promise to ourselves to serve these people every three months.
