Sparsh is an annual free medical camp for the underprivileged conducted in a village located in the outskirts of Vellore. This medical camp was organized for those who are unable to afford any kind of medical facility or treatment otherwise. With the help of our team I was able to arrange for doctors and nurses from various departments who were willing to participate in this camp and provide their services. We also provided transport for the doctors in case they were unable to arrange their own transport. Since it was the weekend, I was able to convert the village’s school into a medical facility with the help of our team.

Doctors, along with their medical assistants, from each department were provided with a classroom of their own so that they could perform the tests and checkups comfortably. The villagers were eligible for a free check-up following their registration at the registration desk. This check-up helped us shortlist the various tests and treatments required for each person. There were various departments available such as Dentist, ENT specialist, ophthalmologist, Podiatrists, etc.
Arrangements for snacks and refreshments for the doctors and nurses were also made. We had also planned a small skit and dance performance to entertain the villagers and their children.
This whole experience filled my heart with gratitude. It made me realize how truly lucky we all are to be able to afford even the most basic amenities in our lives. This initiative gave the underprivileged an opportunity to take all the possible health checkups that they otherwise wouldn’t have. I am also very grateful for all the doctors and the entire medical team for traveling all the way to this remote village to provide their services to the needy.
