Curtain Hug

It was August 2018; I was returning from my college. On my way back to the hostel, I spotted a puppy alone on a road in a very feeble condition. It wasn’t even able to stand on its feet. I couldn’t control myself and I ran towards the puppy where I found it badly injured. There were some people around a tea stall near that puppy. I asked them if anyone knows anything about that puppy. Their answers stunned me when they said this puppy is taking its last breath and is going to die soon. I felt emotionally triggered at that moment, and couldn’t resist taking that puppy along with me to my hostel. I brought that puppy inside my bag, hiding from my warden to my room. My roommates were shocked, but at the same time, they were feeling proud of me for bringing that tiny creature. We hid that puppy in our room for around 1 week. We used to feed him with milk, biscuits, and gave him a proper place to sleep wrapped in all woollen clothes, comforting him. Soon, the puppy started recovering and my roommates and I were all filled with joy. We convinced our warden for letting us keep that puppy along with us. The warden permitted us, as no one was there for that puppy who can take proper care of it. We even named the puppy “Duke”. And now Duke too is an important member of my hostel family.
This fills me with utter joy that I’m the reason behind Duke’s life today. I can’t thank God enough for bringing Duke into my life.
